Poëziecentrum Nijmegen presents poet Jet Sterkman. While studying for a Master’s degree in Literature and Society she is also very busy with language in her spare time. Her poetry has no fixed subject; sometimes when she sees something or when something happens, she knows: ‘this is a poem’. She writes about: angels, autism, dead birds, gender, orange threads, dishonesty, skin, right to exist, names, hyperactivity, confusion, meaninglessness and the importance of the smallest things. In short, about her world experience. An experience that others hopefully respect, recognize, find comforting, perhaps even understand.
In the eyes of campus poet Jarmo van Dam, everything is decomposable. From yearning nights dancing in clubs to yawning days studying behind college benches. With earlier performances at Solar Weekend and Kunstbende, he is now set on writing about student life, relationships and digitalization. He tackles complex subjects with everchanging, innovative perspectives with sound rhythm and strong imagery, promising a unique experience for everyone tuning in to his provocative poetry.
