When I was twelve my parents took us to an observatory in Arizona to look at Saturnus, Mars, and the stars. I remember being so impressed by what I had seen, the enormous distance between me and the stars, and how small this meant I was. It came over me like a giant wave, like I could feel the entire universe pressing on my shoulders. Ever since that moment I’ve been fascinated by what it means to be a person in this world. That’s why I became a musician. That’s why I became a physicist.
Faradays is the project of Dutch songwriter and physicist Karindra Perrier. She shares her fascination for time, the world, and life itself in both music and science. Honest and vulnerable songwriting is her forté, yet her songs instil a sense of life to the listener, all told with a distinct, soaring vocal that carries the emotional urgency to easily pull you in.
She debuted in 2018 with the singles Real and Promise which were well received by fans and critics alike, garnering them a nomination as one of the promising talents of the year by the biggest national indie blog 3VOOR12. Their passion took Karindra and the band on tour across the Netherlands with over thirty shows, including opening for The Japanese House and Blaudzun. Always looking to improve their talents and progress, Karindra and the band are currently being coached by Koen van de Wardt, frontman of Klangstof.
Their debut EP Memories, recorded with producer Simon Akkermans (Binkbeats, Sabrina Starke, Mister and Missisippi), features the aforementioned singles, as well as standout single Snow which saw support from the likes of heavyweight tastemakers Clash Magazine, and reached Hype Machine’s top ten. Memories is the quintessential modern indie-electro pop project and displays a bright future for this inspired act.
